Dangerous Games and Jurassic Park 2011 Toyline Pages Online
Date: Sunday, May 6, 2012 - 16:11 (Eastern) Author:Tyrannosaur
Between running around on the encyclopedia project, my contributor responsibilities on Jersey Boys Hunt Dinosaurs, and my academic pursuits in college (4.0 GPA, by the way!) I have had little time to keep JPL's sections up-to-date. I made a goal today and I'm quite happy I met that goal to competion! I got the Dangerous Games comic section online (with help from _Veritas_) in addition to information gathered from JPToys for the Jurassic Park 2011 toyline and gallery section that was canceled before it could see the light of day unfortunately. In addition to this I also got the JP: Mobile Game section online as well! Enjoy!
Jurassic Park and Conventions!
Date: Saturday, May 5, 2012 - 10:19 (Eastern) Author:Tyrannosaur
We have two, count them, two awesome conventions coming up first and foremost. Jurassic-Con, which is being held June 9th in beautiful Southern California! This is the Con's first year running and they've promised some awesome exhibits. They're going to have everything from fossils to real paleontologists. Some of the highlights of the show will be Jurassic Park, Land Before Time, and even Indiana Jones!
Some of the special guests will include Eric Boardman from Dinosaurs, Dinosaurs, Dinosaurs! Most you should know that was hosted with Gary Owens and Eric Boardman as a team in the eighties and early nineties. In case you need a refresher here is a trailer of the series.
The convention will also feature The Chiodo Brothers. They will be featured guests along with their creations from the movie Killer Klowns From Outer Space (a staff favorite here on JPL). Jurassic-Con is the event if you're a JP fan that you do not want to miss! Check out Jurassic-Con's main site and their Facebook page! As a bonus I'm going to show the teaser for the convention here. It's hilarious and everyone in the world has the right to enjoy this trailer!
There is also another small bit of info we wanted to release to you all. Yes Jurassic Park Legacy will have a booth set up at the Chicago Comi-Con! We will have more information closer to the con on what we will have and if we will have any giveaways going on there. Be sure to stay tuned!
For those who live in or around the Salt Lake City area in Northern Utah, Jurassic Park Legacy will be represented for the fourth year running in CONduit 22: Time Lords of CONduit. CONduit is Utah's longest running sci-fi/fantasy convention and will be on Memorial Day Weekend, May 25 thru May 27 at the Salt Lake City Raddison Hotel. Guests this year include Tamora Pierce, author guest of honor, and Tim Russ from Star Trek: Voyager. Panels and films will be shown throughout the weekend, as well as gaming, costume contests, workshops and a lot more.
Meet Staff member Ammonites as he hosts the JPL hall table and discusses a panel dedicated to Jurassic Park and other genetics, as well as potentially the largest gathering of JP costumes with the JPL: Wasatch Division costuming group. For information on the convention and more details, visit the official web site.
You Asked For It, You Got It: Live the Legend (Free Play)
Date: Tuesday, March 27, 2012 - 12:59 (Eastern) Author:Tyrannosaur
A lot of fuss has gone over Live the Legend recently and we had a launched a barebones version up in this section. Further we've decided to modify LtL once more to open up "Free-play". What is free play? Simply no population caps. No writing samples. No activity benchmarks. We still ask you to follow these rules though as well as the field guide. Veteran players are encouraged to take their characters over from the original RPG and feel free to place them on Sorna. Attached to your mammoth from before? Not a problem, you may bring one along! Did you want to play as a Tyrannosaurus or a Spinosaurus and never could before? Now you can! We're also allowing Troodon as a playable on Isla Sorna.
Welcome to free play folks! Enjoy it!
Bear in mind: This is until we get the new d20 system and the staff for it together.
A new Jurassic Farce Project
Date: Sunday, March 25, 2012 - 10:38 (Eastern) Author:Tyrannosaur
Parodies of Jurassic Park are fairly common, some are good - others not so much. This looks like one of those that may be pretty good, but there's a catch. They need your help, but they're promising you goodies in return! From The Murder House Theater in Austin, Texas a new farce of Jurassic Proportions is trying to get some funding and could use your help to put on their show!
This summer, for the first time ever, we - The Old Murder House Theater - are taking our show on the road. We’ve been delighting Savannah and Austin with our increasingly infamous motion picture parody plays for years, and now the rest of the country will just have to prepare itself for the delicious theatrical treat that is us. Tackling a 1993 blockbuster classic, we will present a play like nothing you've ever seen before, and we'll be doing it in a dozen cities nationwide with the JURASSIC FARCE Live-Action Dino Show: US TOUR
Why another farce? Don't we have a lot of spoofs already? You can never have enough spoofs!
“I wanted to show them something that wasn't an illusion, something that was real, something they could see and touch.”
We love movies, and we suffer from a deplorable excess of personality. Murder House began as our effort to bring our favorite movies to life, and over the years has evolved into something magical and unique. We’re here to prove that awesome theatrical experiences haven’t gone extinct.
Our most recent production, ALIENS ON ICE!, brought hundreds of eager film fans together to witness the cardboard-and-fireworks madness of a Murder House show. After half-a-dozen shows made us the talk of two towns, and over 100,000 views of the ALIENS! clip reel alone, we could no longer ignore the cries of a nation desperate for the brand of film geek humor that only we could supply. The time has come to take this on the road, and for our inaugural tour, we’re turning our sites to something... grander.
The target of our latest play was actually the first film that Murder House lovingly re-staged eons ago, on the back porch, for a few dozen friends and defenseless passers-by. Spielberg's 1993 blockbuster is a masterpiece of pop spectacle, thrilling action, and memorable characters - a film that is, itself, larger than life. Now, with four years of creative re-engineering under our collective belt, Murder House is tracing our evolution back to its beginnings, painstakingly rendering multimillion-dollar CG creatures in cardboard and duct-tape. This show wasn’t meant to cater only to the super-rich. Everyone in the world has the right to see these animals. And they will, because we’re bringing the show to you!
So if you're in the Austin, Texas area or intending on being in the Austin, Texas area sometime in June this is for you! Or even if you just want to see them succeed. Be sure to check their KickStarter project page out
Jurassic Park in 3D
Date: Friday, March 16, 2012 - 12:26 (Eastern) Author:Tyrannosaur
Mark your calendars JP fans for July 19th, 2013. On the heels of the 20th Anniversary, Jurassic Park will be released in 3D. So grab those 3D glasses, your family, and head on over to your local cinema that offers 3D and watch as Spielberg puts his film into the Third Dimension. Dead Line reports
BREAKING: Universal Pictures has confirmed the speculation that it is retrofitting Steven Spielberg’s original Jurassic Park into 3D. The studio has dated the film to bow Friday, July 19, 2013. Released in 1993, Jurassic Park grossed $915 million worldwide; I’ll bet the 3D re-release pushes it over the $1 billion gross mark. While it might merit an asterisk, the re-release would mark the first Spielberg-directed film to surpass that billion dollar mark.
