T. rex Related to Chickens
Date: Friday, April 13, 2007 - 16:54 PM (Eastern Time)
Author: TRexMaster

An article released by FOXNews.com has revealed that genetic material obtained from the soft tissue of a Tyrannosaurus matches that of a present day chicken.

WASHINGTON — Researchers have decoded genetic material from a 68 million-year-old Tyrannosaurus rex, an unprecedented step once thought impossible.

"The door just opens up to a whole avenue of research that involves anything extinct," said Matthew T. Carrano, curator of dinosaurs at the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History.

The new finding adds weight to the idea that today's birds are descendants of dinosaurs.

This points towards birds as the modern day descendants of dinosaurs, giving much needed proof for this hypothesis. You can read the whole article here.

A "Certain Fellow" is calling Laura Dern
Date: Friday, April 6, 2007 - 19:03 PM (Eastern Time)
Author: Tyrannosaur

Spielbergfilms is reporting today that Laura Dern is talking JP4 again.

Several months ago, when asked about the film, she said she had not heard anything about it but was visibly overjoyed at the opportunity of being in the film.

Since then, a "certain fellow" has called her, a call to which she will not refuse:

"... he’s always got something totally genius up his sleeve so we’ll see what they have in mind."

She continues to say that she knows very little about the film past that she has been asked to be involved. Also, it would seem that a possible 2008 release date may have been set.

To quote Laura-er, Ellie:
"I think we're back in business!"

Thanks to Quasar for pointing this jem out to our tired eyes.
